Warum Chem-Tape®?
Any use of a type 3 chemical protective suit without firmly attached gloves, overshoes, boots or facial rubber requires the use of an adhesive tape that at least has the permeation barrier of the suit used.
It is crucial to tape transitions without creases and to avoid possible leaks at the transitions to additional PPE such as gloves or masks or the weak points of the suits (e.g. zippers).
A Category III Type 3 suit is only a proper Type 3 suit and meets the requirements for such a suit with regard to penetration, if the transitions are also properly taped. If this is not done during the cabin test, the suits will fail the test.
Taping is essential for all Cat III Type 3 protective suits in order to fully meet the requirements.
When taping, it is always a good idea to take enough tape and put a flap on one end to make it easier to remove the tape when undressing. Otherwise it is very difficult for the wearer or the assisting person to handle with gloves on.
