Protective coveralls for a wide range of work applications

Protective coveralls protect the body and the clothing underneath from hazards and contamination. In combination with other protective equipment such as overshoes, gloves or safety goggles, protective suits offer all-round protection in the respective work area.

There is a wide range of protective clothing models for the most diverse areas of application. Choosing the right one is essential for occupational safety. Should the protective suit keep viruses out? Are medical protective suits needed? Does the suit need to be waterproof or flame retardant? Does the suit need a chemical barrier or should the suit keep out radioactivity or radioactive particles? Find coveralls that meet a wide range of requirements in the ASATEX online shop.

Tested safety of the full body protective suit

From chemical protective suits such as the CoverStar CS500 or the flame-retardant CoverTexFR to particularly highly functional protective suits such as the CoverChem CP500, you will only find models with a high quality standard. The respective protective effect has been confirmed by an official testing institute. Here, both the quality and the protective effect of the protective suits are tested using precisely defined requirements and the finest testing technology. The permeation data determined can be requested from us.

Highly functional and cleverly designed protective suits

When it comes to occupational safety, protective suits are indispensable in many situations. Whether in the pharmaceutical industry, during rescue operations, when handling chemicals, viruses or bacteria and other hazardous substances: The areas of application are diverse and the wearers depend on sensible features and a work-friendly design. When developing our protective suits, we take up the feedback and wishes of our customers and optimise them continuously. We rely on multifunctional materials and details that increase safety and wearer comfort.

Important details increase safety

In addition to the barrier properties of the materials used to make the protective suits, other details ensure the safety of the wearer. In many models, the typical critical areas of the zip, seams and transitions to other PPE are specially protected. For example, double zip covers and adhesive strips or taped seams. Thumb loops and elasticated cuffs, leg ends, hood and back ensure a secure fit without slipping.

The robust materials and solid workmanship also prevent the suit from tearing and contaminating the wearer.

The full-body protective suit: Well thought-out design for good wearing comfort

When developing a protective suit, the issue of wearing comfort and design is just as important as the protective effect itself. After all, a disposable coverall that is worn unwillingly and therefore incorrectly cannot provide full protection against hazardous substances. An unwieldy protective suit also poses a safety risk.

Optimised design and useful details make all the difference here. Anyone who works physically strenuously in a protective overall is grateful for every improvement in comfort. For example, we pay attention to handy operation by means of large and easy-to-grip zip tags. Well thought-out cuts, glued-in elasticated backs and elastics that prevent riding up ensure an optimal fit. Multi-part hoods remain flexible during head movements and offer a free field of vision in the disposable suit.

Which protective suit is the right one?

The most important criterion when choosing protective suits is the protective barrier. They must protect the wearer from all hazardous substances with which he may come into contact. So the first step is to analyse which hazardous substances can occur in the particular work situation. And you do this from the time the protective suit is put on until it is taken off and disposed of. You also need to assess the conditions that prevail in the workplace. You can also find a helpful selection list for chemical protective clothing on the portal for occupational safety and health.

Furthermore, wearing comfort is important to increase acceptance by the wearer. Quality, fit and mechanical durability are further points according to which you should check the protective suits before buying.

The different protection categories

Personal protective equipment is generally divided into three categories. Category I covers simple protective equipment for a low health hazard. Category III includes protective equipment that protects against lethal hazards or serious damage to health. Protective suits are divided into these two categories.

Category II groups together all protective products that do not fall into either category I or III. They provide standard protection against mechanical risks. This includes, for example, safety helmets or safety shoes.

Standards and types

For protective suits in particular, there are different norms that must be observed before use. The most important difference here is the gas-tight full protection (type 1) and the non-gas-tight protection (type 2-6).

Type 1 (EN 943-1) is a gas-tight chemical protective suit, Type 2 (EN 943-1) protects against liquids, spray and dust. A type 3 (EN 14605) suit is used for protection against liquid chemicals. Type 4 (EN 14605) is spray-tight between the different parts of the garment and Type 5 (EN ISO 13982-1) provides protection against dust. Last but not least, Type 6 (EN ISO 13034) provides limited protection for reusable chemical protective clothing. These have a limited service life and are not comprehensive protection against liquids.
