Winter gloves
In winter and in cold environments, work is noticeably more difficult. Warming work clothes and especially lined work gloves are therefore essential for safe working. Cold poses a high risk of accidents
The European standard DIN EN ISO 15743 deals in detail with the risks of exposure to cold at the workplace. It gives recommendations on how to reduce the risks, for example by wearing suitable clothing. Localised hypothermia on the hands and fingers is particularly frequent and should be avoided from the outset by wearing suitable winter work gloves.
DIN EN 511 specifically sets out in detail the requirements and test methods for lined work gloves that protect against cold. As a rule, our hands are always a little cooler than the rest of the body. Especially in winter we feel this clearly. The vessels on the hands constrict in the cold and as a result less warming blood flows. What feels unpleasant during a short winter walk is dangerous during work. Due to cold, muscles are also supplied with less energy, hands and fingers stiffen, are more immobile and hurt. The sense of touch and the general abilities of the hands are severely limited. The risk of accidents increases enormously due to the decrease in mobility and strength.
Lined work gloves are therefore essential in cold workplaces to ensure safe working. Otherwise, low temperatures, wind or moisture severely restrict safe hand grips.
