A real all-rounder: knitted gloves

Knitted work gloves are rightly the glove stars when it comes to comfortable protection for rougher work. They maintain good dexterity, offer comfort, freedom of movement and protection against various risks. Especially in work areas and activities where handling small objects or operating tools is required, knitted gloves are the ideal work glove. For example, they offer particularly comfortable protection for both assembly work and precision work.

Our range of knitted gloves consists of models with different properties. Depending on the material composition and design, they have extremely useful properties for everyday work. For example, palms coated with nitrile microfoam, as in the case of the fine knit glove 3520, provide a particularly good grip in dry as well as wet and slightly oily environments. The sense of touch is still maintained.

Other models, such as the fine knit glove 3790, in turn have electrostatic properties. This means they prevent unwanted sparks. Sparks can have fatal consequences in areas where there is a risk of explosion and where sensitive components could be damaged by electrostatic voltage. As part of the protective equipment, knitted gloves with electrostatic properties help to prevent this sparking or static discharge.

Appropriately equipped models such as the E091-ESD protect against thermal hazards.

Furthermore, knitted gloves that are touch-screen compatible are very popular in the work environment. If smartphones, tablets, computers or other devices with touch functions have to be operated at the same time, knitted gloves that do not have to be removed for this purpose make sense. Our touchscreen-capable models, such as the fine knit glove 3655, have a special coating on the fingertips that makes it easy to operate screens with the fingers.

Knitted gloves meet various standards

EN standards ensure that protective gloves such as knitted gloves meet certain safety requirements.

The EN 388 standard, for example, refers to protective gloves against mechanical risks and assesses their resistance to abrasion, cuts, tear resistance and puncture resistance. The EN 407 standard refers to protective gloves against thermal risks and assesses their resistance to heat and fire. The EN 420 standard describes the basic requirements for protective gloves. Within this standard, the general requirements for protective gloves are specified. These requirements include design principles, fabrication, material resistance to water penetration, harmlessness, comfort, performance, manufacturer's labelling and the information to be provided by the manufacturer.

The EN 16350 standard in turn describes the properties of protective gloves with electrostatic equipment. This standard establishes additional requirements for protective gloves worn in explosive environments. It specifies a test method as well as performance requirements, labelling and information on electrostatic dissipative protective gloves to minimise the risk of explosion.

Material composition of the knitted gloves

The material composition of our knitted gloves gives them not only excellent protective properties but also a very good skin feel. Liners made of nylon, polyamide, elastane or cotton or a combination of these materials give the knitted gloves important properties and high wearing comfort.

Coatings of nitrile microfoam or vinyl nubs provide important grip safety. Fine knit gloves coated with HPT® (Hydropellent Technology®), such as the 3677V, in turn have an anti-vibration effect. These anti-vibration gloves absorb and dampen some of the vibrations from work equipment and can thus prevent harmful effects on the hands. These effects can include numbness, tingling sensations, discolouration of the fingers and fatigue or weakness of the muscles. Frequent and prolonged use of vibrating tools such as chain saws, jackhammers or drills and other machines can even lead to permanent damage and even incapacity. Wearing knitted gloves with an anti-vibration effect is a sensible protective measure against these negative consequences.

Sustainable fine knit glove

Made from recycled polyester, our HIT-RC knitted glove sets a sustainable example and makes its contribution to reducing CO2 emissions. With its protective properties, palm coating, good grip and excellent fit, it combines work safety, comfort and environmental awareness.
