What features must welding clothing have?

Welding work is one of the typical high-risk jobs, for example in metalworking companies. Therefore, compliance with special safety rules is essential. Wearing suitable protective clothing is one of the most important rules.

Protective welding clothing must offer a range of protective features to optimally protect the welder during welding. Obviously, protective welding clothing must be fireproof, heat-resistant and non-heat-conductive. But there must also be sufficient resistance to cutting tools or pointed and sharp work objects. Protection against electricity can also be an important issue.

Important standards for welding clothing

Our welding clothing meets the standards of EN ISO 11611 - Protective clothing for welding and allied processes and EN ISO 11612 - Protective clothing against heat and flame. The welding jackets, welding trousers, welding overalls and welding hoods offer optimum protection in the demanding working environment of the welder.

In addition, we offer welding clothing that also provides protection against liquid chemicals and against thermal hazards of an electric arc in accordance with the EN 13034 and IEC 61482 standards. In our range you will also find welding clothing with electrostatic properties as defined by the EN 1149 standard. Simply filter your search by the desired standards and select the welding clothing that suits you best.

What materials are suitable for welding clothing?

Welding clothing must be made of certain materials that are naturally quite robust in dealing with fire. These include cotton, which does not melt even in high heat. Cotton also minimises the risk of holes in the clothing through which fire, sparks and heat could penetrate. Therefore, our welding garments are made of 100 per cent cotton. In addition, it has been given a flame-retardant Proban finish. This makes the cotton material flame retardant and ideal for use in welding work.

Depending on the model, our welding garments also contain antistatic fibres. When welding, depending on the type of welding, there is an increased risk of fire and explosion as well as the thermal hazards of an electric arc. Depending on the type of welding, you should make sure that the workwear you choose offers sufficient protection.
